This might seem odd, but I never design a site in a graphics application.
(go on, say it, you can tell....)
Because a lot of the design is driven by CSS I find it easier to do a
rough sketch and then build up from there.
Colors can be changed by editing the values in the CSS file and if adding
something breaks the layout I can see why and when and what broke it.
I also find working from a fixed design, when I want a fluid end result is
much harder than tinkering with the CSS.
Normally I pay an artist to do photoshop page layouts and then chop them
up - this one is a favour for a sister company, a portfolio builder, so no
spare cash for designers.
I'm hoping that slowly, as I get more out of the CSS, I can get some
ground breaking stuff together, instead of being years behind in style
terms.
