RE: FN-FORUM: Why????
date posted 1st May 2004 14:59
In my own experience, whenever I've posted to the forum asking for
feedback/help I've always found everything to be fine.
If someone has strong feelings about something then let them express
them - I know when I'm asking I'd rather have that than nothing at all.
Occasionally there are some flame wars - more often than not linked to
the old CSS/tables debate (please let's not start that one again!!!) but
otherwise I've always found it to be fine.
There is one person on here who seems to think it unprofessional that we
ask for advise and tends to make his feelings well known on those lines
- if he wants to do that fine but personally I think it's a pretty
f**king stupid attitude. Nonetheless, he's well within his rights to
make the comments and I for one won't stop open debate. We still live in
a free country and thus all have the right so long as we don't infringe
the rights of others to say what we want - constructive or otherwise.
My view is the main difference between the forum and a real office is
that most of us work on our own and use the forum as our 'virtual
workmates' as we can't just turn around and ask someone sitting at the
desk behind us. The detached nature of the forum compared to an office
means that it's easier to say to make heated remarks without fear of
reprisals - but we're all grown up (at least I hope so) and should be
able to take it on the chin.
If you don't like the nature of the forum you could always unsub.
