No button clipping, but I get a strange flicker when I mouse over the
top nav elements - like it's starting to do a rollover and then changes
it's mind. On IE6/XP.

It isn't Thud but it would be a passable alternative. Pulled the font up &
compared & most likely it's based on Thud.
