There was a programme on TV a week or so ago about this - apparently Sweden
(I think) recently had a change forced upon them and transfers between
different banks now occur within a matter of hours. Transfers between
Barclays accounts happen instantly if done on line (regardless of sort code)
but, as already stated, transfers to other banks take the traditional 4 days
so they can 'steal' interest!
