i'm impressed with people's enthusiasm...
i was just shooting the breeze really,
though, i guess i did kinda throw down the gauntlet. ;-)
i would love to help head a project where several (many) des/dev
companies took on a brief and did their 'own thing' with it.
we tried a similar thing on this list last year - and it was successful
to some degree, but i think the platform was wrong - i.e. it just
encouraged people (myself especially) to divulge their artistic side,
rather than keeping strictly to good, practical (as in 'works') design.
maybe a small component would be in order? i.e. write a brief for a
large project, but just create a homepage?
this is a tough one to do and keep within a sensible constraint. a
project can take several weeks (months even) before something
reasonably good materializes...
the factor of money makes a big difference also. if you have a client
to please, and you are relying on them to provide your wage, you are
more likely to take the time to create something amazing. or not
perhaps?
hmmm....
