Exactly the same experience with a family friend.

But I would not trust AVG - I use and recommend Trend (www.antivirus.com)
and never had a failure yet. Adaware I found pretty useless, but use Spybot.
Trend also has the firewall built in, and very unobtrusive.
Also - unlike the HOPELESS Norton, you don't have to reboot to patch latest pattern!
