You need to put a pinprick in the fat end of the egg to stop it
splitting - lets the air out of the membrane at the bottom. I have a
fridge magnet which you you just press the egg on to, with a little
spike...

Nah, cooking is brilliant and so rewarding. I'm not a great fan of
Delia but her recipes seem to work for novices, and if you like it
spicy try one of Madhur Jaffrey's books. I learnt to cook Indian from
her very first...
Nigella Lawson is also very accessible and she gears things toward the
lazy/time challenged person, yet turns out great food that's well fit
to share with friends and make an impression.
Nothing personal (I blame idle parents for the decline ;-) but it
seems that so many 'younger' people claim they can't cook, when
they've never really tried.
Anyway, gone totally OT now, but I have hundreds of recipes if
anyone's hungry...
