A client of mine is about to Import some products from the states 3 laptops
and a printer, just asking is there any additional tax or import costs he
has to pay? Or are there any guidelines I can pass onto him so he can have a
read regarding this matter.

Yep - import duty and VAT (reclaimable if registered). From recollection
(and its been quite a few years since I was in the shipping industry),
Import Duty is calculated on the 'landed' price in the UK (i.e. cost of the
goods, freight costs and insurance), and then VAT is levied on the landed
price plus Import Duty. Check out the HMC&E web site where you should be
