You might need to set clear text (basic) authentication (ewww!) (The PPP
negotiation is not
converging means that authentication is failing - usually wrong security
setting in connectoid). Also check that you have only one winsock.dll =
and
one wsock32.dll.

Subject: FN-FORUM: NT4/W2K PPTP VPN
I'm trying to connect from a W2k system to a NT4 WS system via a PPTP =
VPN.
The authentication is failing at the NT4 box. The event log there =
shows:-
20077 RemoteAccess N/A STOKEHTS An error occured in the
Point to Point Protocol module on port VPN1. The PPP negotiation is =
not
converging.
On the W2K machine trying to make the connection shows:-
Error 619: the specified port is not connected.
The NT box is SP6 and has 128 encryption. I think I have set it up =
correctly
but I must be missing something. I know that port 1723 is open but I'm =
not
convinced that GRE is open all the way through. But if my understanding =
is
right the authentication takes place via the TCP/IP port 1723 connection =
and
if GRE was closed then the data path would fail after the authentication =
is
done. But that is failing too...
Any ideas???
