Re: FN-FORUM: Best Linux Distribution?
date posted 18th August 2004 18:00
Hi,
Everyone has a different opinion - I personally use RedHat 9, which,
though they aren't continuing its development, I think is pretty good.
You could always try Fedora. Or SuSE if you are a fan of the Germans.
People seem to say Slackware is good though I have never tried it. You
could always try Gentoo if you have Linux knowledge already, though my
attempt at installing it failed miserably. It should be fairly easy to
install Apache on them all. I managed it, aswell as a mail server
(with Trevor's help). You could search on Google for this topic,
though you will always just get people's opinions on the subject. They
are basically all the same. I've always found the Linux desktop to be
quite a lot more resource hungry than the Windows shell though.
Regards and good luck,
Joe.
