Then please, please go and read Cryptonomicon followed by Quicksilver while
putting in an order for The Confusion at Amazon. Might as well get The Big
U, Zodiac, Snowcrash, The Diamond Age and Interface while you're at it.

PS. I was a Linux newbie and managed to get GenToo with Fluxbox running on
my old laptop. The Gentoo docs are pretty good and thorough IMHO. Loved it
while it lasted and left the Win world completely for six months. Use it as
an educational experiment if you have the time and patience - I did, managed
to get it running and learnt a hell of a lot in the process.
