Boot a Linux rescue CD and edit the /etc/passwd file?

I'm using IceWM here. It's got a taskbar doobrie and CPU and network=20
monitors and I've got xplanet running as the desktop background so there'=
s
something pretty behind all the windows and a clock and everything.
