Re: FN-FORUM: Best Linux Distribution?

Beginning to leave the topic of distibutions now...
At the time, I had no dougt that there was a fairly straight forward
method to get the password to work, but I was rapidly loosing patience
with it all (3 days at it so far - you have to hang around the
computer, 'cos you can guarantee that the moment you walk out the
door, it finishes makeing something and is idly waiting for its next
command!) and was just getting a bit bored of it. I agree, the
installation doc's are excellent - though maybe more detailed in some
areas than others - but certainly not complaining!
As to the window manager - I can't bear (is that the right spelling?)
to think what would happen if I tried to upgrade it! Tried this with
some other software, but the good old RPM's complained, so I used
--force and then everything went wrong... Maybe I will look into
another WM some time, when I have enough time to re-install RedHat all
over again!
On the topic of distos, I think you just have to try them all out
yourself - maybe wrong, but I think which ever one you start with you
are going to hate anyway! Then once you are used to the sacrifices you
made from Windows' *GUI* (note: GUI, not necessarily the OS in
general), you will be fairly content with any further distros (only my
opinion - I know someone is going to get upset about that comment...).
Regards,
Joe.
