If then computers can communicate, you probably just need to set the
gateway on the machine without the modem to the LAN IP of the machine
with the modem.
Don't forget to set the DNS server address...

I agree completely, and I can't see a way that putting the entire
application and set of user data on a CD is going to be secure.

Mind you you could do that with any database - if you've got to store
the uid / pwd combo to access the database somewhere then it could be

You could encrypt the XML, but I'm sure someone could find a way to hack
into the Flash movie and reverse engineer the decryption process or
display the data directly.

Trick with updates are to wait around a month or two before putting them
on as they get all the bugs out of them, the firsts ones out are always
