Re: FN-FORUM: OT Yamaha TDM

Thanks for the replies and links.
Pete, I'm not offended by the questions.
I've been riding on and off since 1975, unrestriced mopeds in the early=
days, and a couple of 125's since then.
Did a 4 day Direct Access course on a 500 recently and passed the test (the=
theory test has changed a bit since I passed the car test in '78!).
Driving and parking in Saff London by car is a bl**dy nightmare, hence the=
bike. The BMW is a bit out of my price range as I suspect your Honda would=
be. I can pick up a 1998 TDM for about =A32300. A big jump from a Honda CLR=
125 though!
Decisions, decisions.

>>=A0I'm looking for a first 'big' bike (mid-life crisis etc), with

>=A0At the risk of giving offence, the first comments I'd offer are
>=A0likely to be around questions such as:

>=A0- how long have you been riding?
>=A0- what kind of training/experience do you have?
>=A0- what do you want a "big" bike for?
>=A0- is this a return to biking, a start of biking, or what? - the
>=A0above not withstanding, want to buy my CBR1000 for a stupidly large
>=A0sum so I can get something else? ;-)

>=A0Most of those are obviously aimed at working out whether the next
>=A0bit of advice needs to be "Get some training so you don't stick it
>=A0into the scenery", although as you're after a TDM not an R1 etc. I
>=A0suspect I know the answers :)

>=A0The ones on "What do you want a big bike for?" stand either way - a
>=A0TDM might not be the best tool for the job.
