Re: FN-FORUM: In a good mood - Now camera advice

The trouble with compact digital is that they are quite restrictive in
zoom ability and if you go for a compact with super-zoom ie x10 optical
they are useless in anything other than good light and with a very
steady hand (read tripod)
So if you want something that will really match ease of use and quality
of output to 35mm you should look ad the canon D300 or others like
that. Your alternative is to get a digital compact with as high a
resolution as possible. Some of your shots will have to be framed a
little lose but you will then be able to digitally zoom or crop your
shots in your image editor.
This is the route I took and went for the canon S60 Ease of use is
great, you get full manual control if wanted and great picture quality.
I was not interested in video and this is not the S60's strong point,
for that I would say take a look at Some of the Fuji range
Finally I would recommend to anyone to get a camera with RAW capability
as it allows you to rescue less than perfect shots without loosing
image quality.
