Doesn't the Sale of Goods Act say something about reasonable lengths
of time that a product should be expected to last and/or products
being fit for their purpose?

You don't say how old the printer is, but it must be at the very least
two and a half years old (assuming you didn't buy an extended =
warranty!).

Personally I'd be pretty annoyed if a printer I bought (especially an
expensive one) stopped working after two and a half years. If it was a =
cheapo
=A340 Lexmark then perhaps it could be expected.

I think you're probably SOL with this one though to be honest, but it =
may
be worth contacting your local Citizens Advice Bureau.
