FN-FORUM: Malicious MacOS X shell script
date posted 1st November 2004 20:18
Anyone running MacOS X should take a look through this.

Briefly, some bright spark has unleashed a piece of 'malware' on the
Mac community. This is - apparently - not a virus as such however if
it gets on your system, the effects are pretty much the same.
With almost monotonous regularity, MacOS X throws up requests for
authorisation to do this or that - such as permission to install
software - be it from the Software Updater or be it something you've
chosen to install yourself.
The key lesson from this is to observe caution when you are presented
with a system generated request for your user ID and password. don't
just type in your pw and click OK unless you KNOW why you're being
asked for your password.
