I'd go so far as to add - don't expect to come onto a mailing list like
this and for people to give you work ;)
It's highly possible to pick up work from this list, however the way to
go about it is to stick around for a while and read.. then post advice,
try to help others out - demonstrate your ethics and your abilities in
the medium which you work (be that HTML/PHP/graphic design/copywriting)
by helping others and/or posting examples of your work for critique.
If people like *you* and your work enough, you might just pick up some
work. You did rather get off to a bad start, but I'm sure it can be
salvaged over time..
If you'd rather take the 'quick route' then reply to every advert on the
freelancers.net job postings - but don't expect to pick up a great deal
of work, it's a very hit and miss affair at the moment unless you can
work for £3.50 and a packet of crisps.
But what do I know, I'm only just starting out myself really (well, 7
months ago), nobody likes me and I smell..
(As Paul said, having a sense of humour is also essential if you want to
take part on this list ;))
