Looks as though just putting a real CR ASCII code in the string (hex 0A)
does the trick. The string must be in quotes though or else the CR will be
regarded a record seprerator.

The other solution is the Q / L / X type bots used on Quakenet and Undernet.
They basically sit in the channel permamently.
