FN-FORUM: Happy New year
date posted 1st January 2005 12:24
Here's hoping that 2005 is better than 2004, for you and yours.
I'm still feeling pretty humbled and helpless by the events around the
Indian Ocean.
Life is so fragile when faced with nature's force.
I'm determined to see the big picture more often this year and to take
petty inconveniences with a more philosophical attitude.
- like the kind soul that hit my car in the car park on Thursday and
drove off, leaving me with a £250 excess to pay. From a PollyAnna point of
view, replacing the wing of my car will finally fix the flying stone dent
that had been irritating me, I just wish I'd not added the voluntary
excess at the last renewal!
In the grand scheme of things, unimportant. At my personal level? you can
imagine....
how do you come to terms with this dichotomy of scale? As I get older I'm
wondering if this is the central theme of life? some stuff is so big, so
frightening, that we can somehow ignore it, yet the little things can stir
huge rage and emotion...
Anyone got any good new year tips for maintaining focus and well-being?
;o)
