thanks for all the responses, have a few more questions though.
I ran the free version of spysweeper which found 65 bits of
spyware/adware! no virus or trojans, though. he's running w2k.

are these hardware firewalls easy to set up? im trying to prod him into
dumping the aol and getting bb through zen and i know they sell hardware

what is the correct order to run these, im guessing
disconnect computer from net
remove adware
install firewall
pray
any other instructions/recommendations? (other than get a mac and turn
firewall on)
