FN-FORUM: rogue PC blocks Internet access

Hello there,

I need help once more. Fixed up one of the Desktops standing around
gathering dust. Put XP Pro on and plugged it into the network.
Strangely it takes 10-20 secs to stop Internet access to my main
laptop (and likely to other PC's). Set-up is a Netgear Router/wireless
AP/Hub connected to the BY cable modem. Once I disconnect the
'culprit' and reboot router and cable modem, everything works again.

I checked IP address conflict and tried 'culprit' on DHCP and with
fixed IP, same result. Checked DHCP result on router, shows different
Mac addresses. Internal traffic is still possible but internet has a
problem with DNS loookups.

Puzzled and confused, seeking help. Any clues or pointers most welcome
as I would like that PC to be on the network.
