Really - I suppose that's just me being stuffy, but that flashing thing looks

Yep, looks good.
I would change the bright-light blue you're using to a blue sampled from the
photo - I used #1b42a4 in my tryout.
And then I'd center it and put a border around it, but I think I've said that
before :o)

I'd ask if it would be ok to use the image on a personal website, without
mentioning the URL. It's from a Uni site, so I don't think they'll object,
and if they do it'll take a while before they find your site...
At any rate give credit to them for the photo on your site somewhere.
