RE: FN-FORUM: picas to pixles
date posted 26th January 2005 21:37
Hi Dave;
My problem is transferring a copy from word to my site. I need to keep
the format of the copy exactly the same. So I have written it inside a
table. I have the measurement of the table and I know the size of my
layer, yet the formatting is lost when transferred. I know because of
the style sheet settings that this should not happen, unless the
containers are different in size. Possibly (could be) the fonts. Wish I
knew what my monitors' dots per inch were?
Kind Regards
D.G

The rather complicated answer is that it depends upon the DPI of the
medium
the text or image is being displayed on. If it helps at all with your
conversion, there are 6 picas to an inch. Picas are subdivided into
"points"
and there are 12 "points" per pica (and so logically 72 points to an
inch).
In some "default circumstances", points and pixels are interchangeable
i.e.
1 pica = 1 pixel.
HTH
Dave.
