Agree completely with your sentiments, but you should not force a nice
large size either. Text should be re-sizeable. If you have Retinitis
Pigmentosa you may actually prefer a small text size rather than a large
one.
There's an enormous range of visual impairments as the eye and brain can
go wrong in all sorts of bizarre, horrible and interesting ways. Not
locking text sizes means the visitor gets the flexibility they need to
view things they way that is easiest for them, thus improving their
opinion of your site and services.
(NB: This is not trying to have a go at you in any way, Jonathan, it's
just about accessibility in general.)
