FN-FORUM: Belated Introduction

date posted 15th July 2005 16:57

Hi,

Seeing all the intros flying around recently I thought I would add mine=20=

in. I've been on the list for a couple of weeks now and found it=20
pretty engaging. The OT stuff has been making sure never to write=20
anything OT myself ;-)

Anyways...

The name is Jeremy Aston. I'm based in West Sussex and have fingers in=20=

a number of pies. The coding stuff is done freelance in the=20
Java/XML/XSLT/Web world, mainly in technical e-learning consultancy for=20=

the Brighton e-learning community. I also design and install smart=20
home/office solutions - things like home cinemas, plasma tvs,=20
integrated lighted, home automation etc. I am also about to start a=20
side business delivering and installing flatpack furniture for people=20
in the Hampshire/Sussex/Surrey area - i.e. I (or my team more like)=20
will do the trek to IKEA, get the stuff and then build it. The things=20=

you have to do when made redundant from your job....

Finally, in the interests of maintaining some level of un-researched=20
questions from the lazy ;-) I have been trying to find a good value=20
dedicated server that I can deploy some Java based web apps on. I use=20=

uk2.net for my domain hosting and they have RAQ machines for =A329 a=20
month which would do the job but I am wondering if anyone has any other=20=

companies they would recommend. I don't need anything heavyweight,=20
just Unix shell access so I can install whatever I want.

Many thanks

Jeremy Aston
