FN-FORUM: Advice on payment agreement.
date posted 19th July 2005 19:04
Hey im in talks with a client to produce a rather large website for
him and it looks like all systems are go. However ive quoted $2000 USD
and about 60 days to complete the project for him, his proposed
payment method is unacceptable as he wanted to pay half apon
completion and half after a few weeks of the site running to make sure
theres no bugs or if he wants to change things.
I suggested one of two methods, either he pay 25% up front and 75% on
completion and release of source code with free support if he finds
any bugs and small changes for 2 weeks after completion, or we section
up the project into 10 sections worth $200 each. Then i'd create a
timeline specifying what will be done in each section.
Now i know compared to some of you lot out there the price vs time
ratio seems like so cheap that you wouldnt work for it, but we had
this discussion before, i work for these rates because i cant get any
UK work and im just starting in the industy and dont have a very large
portfolio.
Anyway, advise on this project would be nice and if anyone wanted to
help me with the timeline and stuff i'd be happy to bung a few quid
yer way.
Thanks
Tam Denholm
