Hi,

For Excel, try either:
OpenOffice sdk: http://www.openoffice.org/dev_docs/source/sdk/index.html
Formula one: http://www.reportingengines.com/index.jsp
POI: http://jakarta.apache.org/poi/

POI and Openoffice are good for word documents, too. You'll need a
little Java.
