Hi Tim
I can't help with the word docs if you're stuck with RTF, but the Excel
ones are a breeze. Make sure the intial documents are Excel XML, then
download the Microsoft Office 2003 XML Reference Schemas from the MS
Office Developers resources. Then simply deal with editing them as you
would edit any XML data source on the server (make interface, read in
XML document, edit, updated changes back to the XML document).
