I think the problem is the MD thinking he can do the photography.
What does *he* think of the results?

As for cheap lenses...
Some of the best photos I've seen came from a camera costing=20
ten quid. (Of course, the ultra-wide angle attached to the=20
quarter-plate wooden box cost many hundreds...)
