I fundamentally disagree with this point, but I'm not going to get into
a debate about it here. What I would like to ask is this:

I've written a little c# code and found the regex stuff really lacking
in terms of speed, something like 10x slower than the equivalent perl
code. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
