The way to do this is not to embed the images but rather put them on a
remote server and create a HTML email which uses the remote images.
That way the images don't have to be sent with the email, just the text
is sent and the email client downloads the images from where ever your
hosting them.
As for sending word documents, then I wouldn't do this.
Word uses a proprietry .doc format which is not always viewable in
previous versions of word let alone anything else. So you write your
document in word XP, if your using lots of complicated layouts then
there is a good chance it won't read or look right in word 2000.
Personally I don't have a copy of Office and have no wish pay £200 or
what ever silly money they are asking for it.
OpenOffice does me fine but does have the occasional argument with files
from the latest office.
Don't make your clients/customers fight to read their email and don't
assume they have spent the £400+ necessary to get Windows+Office.

PS: Does having a 6 line long email with a 20 line long signature
strike a nerve with anyone else?
