Dreamweaver produces Better code, but not clean code. It still puts needless
stuff in there, imho.

I have to disagree with you to some extent. You can only consider comparing
the latest FrontPage with Dreamweaver as in previous version of FrontPage
there is just no comparison - lets face it, it was shite through and
through. It created the most god awful and bloated underlying source code
which was quite possibly worse than Word HTML.

Dreamweaver produces clean code - it is the end user that ends up adding the
bloated extra's through a lack of understanding of the underlying source
code. As has already been mentioned, Dreamweaver provides both a source code
view and a design view so choose the one that suits you best or use both.
Making use of the source view means that DW will not touch your code unless
of course you want to start making use of any of the extra's such as the
built-in in behaviours etc.
