Subject: FN-FORUM: from CGI to SQL
Good morning all, I have just secured a redesign for my friends site which
is currently live at www.romanticaofdevon.co.uk which is very exciting
because the subject lends itself to good design and of course he has a draw
full of high quality images of beautiful ladies in wedding dresses ... not
to mention that of course the current design is dire!!
However, I am having to start from scratch which is great for layout but
there are a few little interactive elements which I am hoping to use PHP for
along with a new database ( I have a spare one in my business pro package
with 1&1.
I will have to add all of his 'stockists' names and addresses - would you
put them all in one table simply under name, address, country, phone etc
etc? or split them up?
The interactive bit allows viewers to peruse the designs and when they see
an image they like if they click to enlarge it, they can then have it
emailed to them as an attachment along with a list of stockists from their
region.
For me the current approach is a little clumsy. I will certainly improve the
selection of images etc with use of layers and behaviours - but could anyone
give me a tip on how the form will work with the database - ie when they
select their region from a drop down menu it adds this to the image??
Alternatively, if anyone can do me something very funky with this to improve
upon the current method - and the interactive map on the website - pse
contact me off list with a good price.
But I would rather learn how to do it!! ;-)
Thanks Max.
