RE: FN-FORUM: Charging for payments

I thought in the case of tesco and the like it was something to do with
VAT - as in it's not tesco you're paying you're paying the card company
so tesco don't end up charing VAT that they're not able to reclaim or
something like that. It's just one of those things that's in the back of
my mind and I need to know before I make some modifications to my
upcoming store.

I think in the case of Tesco it also says that they actually take this
cost on their shoulders but I believe most do not do this.

Hi,
I seem to remember from a while back that (not on the list in the news
/ press) that you can't charge somebody for using a credit card - or
more exacly you can't charge somebody a different price for goods or
services depending on how they're paying.
Is that right ?
I know if you look on a till recipt from say tesco that it says that
2.5% of the balance of the bill goes to the credit card company
(b&stards - what the f**k do they do for their 2.5% ?!)
Cheers
Andy
