Ok here goes,
MAC is my preference but as you say you have to upgrade on both machines.
In design purposes I believe you need the MAC as printers and design studios
all use MAC and converting from PC to MAC isn't very good and can lead to
corrupt files.
In Web design you have to have the PC as only 10% (guess) of the browsing
public use MAC so it's not a dilemma to which one is best as you can have
programmes for both now.
I found in the past that the MAC version of Macromedia puts in extra code
that the PC doesn't - don't know why it just did. I always test my work on
the PC but I love the MAC more, more control of my programmes you know
exactly where everything is and better short cut keys. You don't get the
same problems as the PC due to viruses, when was the last time you heard of
virus on a MAC I think it's nearly 6 years for me. I'm sure there have been
some.

Ok , this is a similar senario, (probably covered previously on here but I
havn't been a member long enough to know)
Mac vs Pc ? When I first started messing around with computers I actually
began on a pc .. As I got older I was informed I should use a mac for design
work, so got one and have been using both ever since. Well as you all know
pc's have kinda caught up with macs on that score ..so the inevitable
question ...Mac or Pc for graphic designer ? Wonders what the percentage of
people on here prefer to use ?
The last company I was at had this problem .. The guy who ran the place came
and asked what we should upgrade to ..should we get new G5's or do we get
Pc's ...I offered my advice and compared prices, spec etc and in the end he
opted for Mac's and the reason was obvious - he was too scared of a pc, he
had no idea how to use one and wasn't prepared to learn anything new , thus
why he opted for newer versions of quark instead of getting Indesign ...so
what your views ? Lorna ? Steve ?
My only problem now is keeping programs up to date on both machines !! Arggh
! Now gotta get Indesign for both !!
