It's illegal to record somebody over the phone without their
permission - isn't it? Not on copyright grounds - but for Data
Protection Act reasons. That's why whenever you phone a call centre
they always say something like: "your call may be monitored or
recorded for training and quality control purposes".
If you did decide to go down this route it would be advisable to
present a transcript of the conversation - rather than a tape. You
could claim you wrote it as you were on the phone.
