RE: FN-FORUM: Umbrella Companies
date posted 1st February 2006 11:37
As an IT Recruitment Consultant, I have dealt with a very wide range of
umbrella companies, and come across a great number of horrifying stories.
Essentially, the most important thing when choosing an umbrella company (IMO
of course), is that their customer services are up to scratch. If another
company can provide significantly higher take home than anyone else, then I
would be suspicious - we are all subject to the SAME tax laws. My
contractors tend to take home between 75% and 90% of what they invoice,
depending on a range of factors, including non-billable expenses and daily /
hourly rate.
For a number of legal and internal reasons, I don't feel comfortable
providing any company names on this public forum. However, if any of you
would like to email me off list, I can arrange for you to have a
conversation with some specific account managers that I have chosen as the
best within each of my top umbrella organisations.
At this point I should clarify that none of these umbrella companies have
any direct association with myself or Elan and are entirely separate
entities.
