This not only applies to Nigeria. It's a subject I have in-depth knowledge
of as regards China but the same goes for anywhere. What Tony hints at could
cause significant problems if there's a hint of a visa scam. Have a peek at
www.ind.homeoffice.gov.uk or contact IND and seek advice. You could also
contact the consular office of the British Embassy in Nigeria (see
www.telediscount.com for mega cheap call rates). They will have detailed
intelligence of existing visa scams. FO staff at foreign missions are
usually very helpful and offer good guidance. They are as keen to assist
legitimate students as stamp out scams. They may also be able to advise on
safe payment methods from Nigeria so that your personal details are not used
for ID fraud or false marketing to students within the country of origin.
