Well I also feel I'm at around 2. I think use of APIs such as Google Maps
and libraries such as Scriptaculous alleviate the need to rewrite the AJAX
engine each time and allow you to spend time on real world/business issues.
This means the move from 4 to 3 is quick and you're on 2 before you know it!
As for an AJAX frameworks for PHP I am getting close to thinking XAJAX is a
good place to start.
Cheers

I'm 2, as I'm using AJAX for my various Google Maps pages. Not very
difficult as the Google Maps API has sorted all the nitty-gritty. I hope
to use it a bit more for auto-completion, but as it has to be a
non-essential add-on it's low priority.
Anyone else tried Google SketchUp? Free to download and very nifty 3D
drawing tool that interfaces with Google Earth so you can put your own 3D
things on the world!
Cheers!
