I'm not an expert, but...

Dependent on the browser and location of 'you' and the time at which you
do the search, your results will be 'fed' by different data centres
which most of the time will be roughly be in synch, but during an update
you will get different results from different centres.

Also, the settings for your search may be different if you have
different browsers on your PC, i.e. IE may be set to search worldwide,
and Firfox be set to just returd results from the UK, or visa versa.
