RE: FN-FORUM: FW: Could be a CSS thing?

In answer to your response, I have been using the DOM since it was first
introduced at level 0, and although the DOM model and the DHTML model =
are
different in there attributes. I fail to see your reference to=20
" just that to me "layer" the way you are using it is old fashioned and
usually used by Dreamweaver users." I am a Microsoft developer and =
always
have been, the current use of layer uses the DOM to manipulate the DHTML
model, and I do know where you are coming from with the Netscape
tag, but as you are aware this tag never really took off, simply due to =
the
power of Microsoft and their implementation of the DHTML model using DOM =
0
techniques, or to put it simply compliant code.
What I find strange is that you have said exactly what I said
" we've moved on from DHTML, we're now "manipulating the DOM" using=20
ECMAscript and separating our behaviour layers from our presentation=20
and our structure layers."
Put simply using DIV's to a line block elements and SPAN's to a line =
inline
elements.
I think we must all take note from Jim
" Calm down; watching this forum does give me a laugh LOL- LOL.
Screaming and bitching he did this, you did that, I didn't say that. You =
are
supposed to be educated designer/coder/techie types and this is the way =
you
behave ;-("
This is not the behaviour of educated people, so putting derogatory =
comments
about anyone, or regarding peoples feedback just isn't tennis. I simply =
urge
you to play the game like everyone else, we know that we need to use =
forums
to help each other out. Just don't slander what others are saying.
As for me I think I will just "GROW UP" and go and watch the Simpsons.
Thanks Jim for putting the World to rights, and thanks Andy for your =
7.5.4
reference.

You are *so* out of order on *so* many levels.
Just how long have you been using CSS and the DOM? since Netscape 4?
not a willy waving contest, just that to me "layer" the way you are=20
using it is old fashioned and usually used by Dreamweaver users.
One legacy term comes from the first days of DHTML: the word layer.=20
Netscape 4 had its own proprietary layer model (see the Intermediate=20
DOM page for more info) and since many people first programmed their=20
DHTML for Netscape 4, layer has also become to mean a separate part of=20
the page that can be moved independently from all other elements on=20
the page, even though we don't use the tag to put them in the=20
HTML document.
http://www.quirksmode.org/js/introdh.html
we've moved on from DHTML, we're now "manipulating the DOM" using=20
ECMAscript and separating our behaviour layers from our presentation=20
and our structure layers.
We're also creating the structure layer semantically using appropriate=20
(x)html elements, arranged in a valid way.
The rest of your attack was so mindless it doesn't deserve a response.
So I'll say no more.
