'spaces' ... there was a space before the final tag. I just cut the
nested layers out and backspaced until I got to
and then literally re-inserted them!!

That's the trouble with coding at the command line which I find myself
doing more and more now in the code view of Dreamweaver - ah well - .

What was is then? I've had same problem but other way around (spaces in ff)
only problems with IE I normally have are whitespace issues or wrong css
calculations! :)
