I don't think the effect of the keywords in a domain are strong enough
any more to be worth worrying about, you can easily over-ride any small
effect by spending a small amount of extra time on getting a few links
to your site. The benefit of having your key words in your domain is
that it makes it much easier to get links with the words you're
targeting as the link text - in the printercatridges.com example, people
are going to be more likely to link to you with 'printer cartridges' in
the link text, rather than if your site was berniesprinters.com
I can't offer a lot of direct evidence of this, just that none of the
sites I deal with have got keywords in their domain names, and they're
all ranking fine (and by fine, I mean 'really highly' :-) ) If you pick
the phrase you're interested in and search for it, the top results are
very rarely dominated by domains with key words in them.
