I think I've met your client ;o) (I used to work for Grey Matter)
scan a fax (poor quality) then OCR it and then it will be editable.
not a function of the scanner, but possible with the OCR software that
comes bundled with most scanners - usually installing the OCR
software integrates it with word and then you can Acquire the document
through the OCR software off the scanner. success rate better than
80% sometimes...(better to have the fax delivered to the PC and then
OCR it)
Scan a faxed drawing into an image editor and then use BMP to Vector
tracing tools - could be done - successfully most likely not -
frustratingly.
flat drawings to 3D models? - I've seen simple stuff, like Google's
sketchup[1] but I have no doubt that he's wanting something from
Sci-fi world... better to pay an architect!
