Yeah google BORKed here too (Italy), although I think it is more than just
google, it may be a bigger DNS issue or maybe some sort of DOS attack.

Whenever NTL block a server, I ring them and go apeshit.
I have on two occasions had servers blocked by them - with different
hosts. On both occasions they have told me that I need to change my IE...

Well gmail and google.com and .co.uk is working fine on IE on a PC.
But gmail and .com have been down for a good few hours on Safari on my
Mac. .co.uk is ok.

I went freelance full time exactly two years ago. I use Abbey Online
Business Banking. Seems ok as long as you don't ever want to use a local
branch. www.anbusiness.com
