I'd weigh up the business potential in order to make my decision.

first explain to the new owner that you built the site for the seller
and that any future work would have been / will be chargeable.

then ask if he wishes to enter into a maintenance contract with you to
assist with the sites future development.

the outcome of this conversation will make your course of action fairly
clear I imagine...

if he thinks he got your services as part of the sale, back out, tell
him to contact ebay and complain and refuse any further contact.

if he's prepared to pay for your time and services then you have a new
client.
