It was the clients request. I have also had the misfortune of receiving
emails with external links when behind a security screen that dosnt let you
see them - kinda irritating.

If you response.write(oRs.Fields("daDespatchDate")) what do you get back,
check it is a valid date format.

First try outputting the
oRs.Fields("daDespatchDate")
value without the formatting. That way you'll at least be able to see if
the date data is reaching the script.

Yes, I'd normalise the database first, that treats the problem at source and
doesn't try to fix it later down the line.
