hi alex,
many thanks for your suggestions. the problem is i don't know enough about
the development side of things to implement this, and don't have a budget to
outsource it on this particular community site. i was sort of hoping there
might be an web admin solution (add a module or something!) to fix this one!
i'll investigate further. have also asked the question on the drupal support
forum.
